14 Puzzle Hangman: the complete wiki
Classic Hangman, in your language: there’s a hidden word and you uncover it letter by letter. Every letter that isn’t there adds a part to the drawing; if it’s complete before you guess the word, you lose. It’s free in your browser, with everyday words and no proper names.
How to play
Controls
- Try a letter
- Tap it on the on-screen keyboard or type it on yours
- New word
- “New word” button (leaving a word half-guessed counts as a loss)
- Play again
- Enter or the “Play again” button at the end
Modes and options
- Progressive
- Starts with easy words, moves to Normal after 3 wins in a row and to Hard after 6.
- Easy, Normal, Hard
- Only words of that level. The level comes from the word itself: length, rare letters and how many different letters it has.
Rules
- The word is shown as a row of blanks, one per letter.
- Pick a letter: if it’s in the word it appears everywhere it belongs; if not, it counts as a mistake.
- Each letter can only be tried once; used letters stay marked on the keyboard.
- Six mistakes complete the drawing (head, body, two arms and two legs) and the game ends.
- Accents don’t matter in languages that have them: A also finds Á.
Tips
- Start with the commonest vowels (E, A, O) and then frequent consonants like T, N, S and R.
- Read the pattern: a doubled blank or a letter at the end says a lot.
- Short words are harder than they look: there are fewer letters to hit.
- Once you have a few letters, think of whole words before guessing at random.
Common mistakes
- Trying rare consonants first (Q, X, Z): they waste mistakes; vowels and common consonants reveal more.
- Guessing single letters when the pattern already suggests a word: think of whole words.
- Forgetting a letter can appear more than once: when you hit, look at every spot where it showed up.
- Switching words halfway to protect your streak: it counts as a loss.

- Do words repeat?
- Not right away: the game remembers the last words you got in your language and avoids them.
- Where are my stats saved?
- Only in your browser: games, wins, streaks and the mistakes distribution. No accounts, no servers.
