Gloamreach guide: classes, builds, bosses and secrets
Gloamreach punishes haste and rewards reading: every enemy warns before it strikes and every door says what lies behind it. This guide covers what helps you go from the first boss to the Abyss.
Play Gloamreach1. Choosing a bearer
The Warden is the most forgiving: lots of health, armor and a shield that blocks everything in front. The Hunter fights from afar and crits more the farther the target is. The Pyromancer is fragile but burns whole rooms down.
The rest ask for more technique: the Reaver grows deadlier at low health, the Shade lives on dashing and backstabbing, the Alchemist wins long fights with stacked poison, the Bonecaller lets an army fight for them, the Stormlancer darts in and out with lightning and the Penitent burns curses as fuel.
2. Reading combat
Nothing hits you without warning. Skeletons raise their weapons, archers draw their bows, hounds mark their charge line and bosses paint the floor before every attack. Watch the mark, dash out and punish during the recovery.
Shielded knights block from the front: circle around them or break their guard by piling on hits. Healers and summoners (witch lights, priests, heralds) should die first.
- Dashing makes you untouchable while it lasts.
- Flasks are few: drink before the next hit would kill you, not after.
- Traps hurt enemies too.
3. Making a build
A build starts from two or three pieces pushing the same way. Loot leans towards the tags you already have, so decide early: if you find an Ember Heart and an Ember Locket, look for fire relics and weapons with searing affixes.
Epic and legendary relics change how you play: enemies that explode on death, lightning that chains on every crit, wisps that fight beside you. Combined with your class passive, they are what carries you to the Abyss.
4. The bosses
Each biome has its boss with two or three phases: the Bone Abbot rains bones and raises his faithful; Mother Thornveil covers the floor in roots; the Foreman charges and brings the ceiling down; Lord Cinder is a fire duelist who keeps speeding up; the Drowned Choir floods the room; and the Hollow King shrinks the world around you.
When a boss changes phase there’s a moment of calm: use it to heal or reposition.
5. Secrets and the true ending
Every floor has a cracked wall hiding a secret chamber or a vault. A bomb, an explosion or an area hit opens it; the Archive’s Hidden Sense makes the cracks glow.
Secret chambers hold sigils that give pale shards. With three, the Abyss’s Pale Door opens, and behind it waits the Pale Lamplighter: the secret boss and the true ending.
