Memory Cards is the classic face-down matching game: turn two cards over, and if they match they stay face up; if not, they flip back and you have to remember where they were. On Vexply it’s free, with its own 18-figure deck, three boards and three modes.

Memory Cards is the classic pairs game with Vexply's own deck: 18 colorful figures drawn in the site's style. There are three boards, from 12 to 36 cards, and the game counts your moves and your time so there's always a mark to beat. It keeps your best marks per difficulty, your streak, your history and 11 achievements, only in this browser. Music and sound effects can be turned off in Options.

Boards

Easy 3×4 (6 pairs), Normal 4×4 (8) and Hard 6×6 (18).

Free

No clock and no mistake limit.

Time Trial

40 seconds, 1 minute or 2:30 depending on the board.

Precision

No clock, but you lose at 7, 9 or 22 mistakes depending on the board.

  • Go through the board in order (row by row) instead of jumping around: positions are easier to remember.
  • When a new card matches one you’ve already seen, close the pair right away.
  • Give each figure a short name (“blue star”, “triangle”) and repeat it in your head.
  • Save the peek for mid-game, when you know some cards and still need to place the rest.

With perfect memory every new card is turned at most twice, and Vexply’s time and mistake limits are set so you can always win that way. The key to improving isn’t speed but order: open unknown cards systematically and don’t touch the ones you know until you have their pair.

How do you play Memory?

Turn two cards per turn looking for matching pairs; cards that don’t match flip back. You win when they’re all face up.

What happens if I run out of time?

In Time Trial and Precision, the remaining cards are revealed when you lose and the game is saved to your history with the pairs you found.

Can the figures be told apart without color?

Yes: every figure in the deck has a different shape, so color is never the only difference.
