Builds in Gloamreach: tags, synergies and curses
In Gloamreach the difference between falling on the second floor and reaching the Abyss is rarely the weapon: it’s the build. This article explains how to make one, with the game’s real numbers.

Play Gloamreach2. Synergies that work
A synergy pairs a source (something that applies a status) with a multiplier (something that cashes it in). A few proven combinations:
- Fire: Ember Heart or Ember Locket to burn, Kindling Jar so burns jump, Pyre Crown so burning enemies explode on death.
- Poison: Viper Fang and Venom Gland to stack, Plague Bloom to make them burst. The Alchemist adds five max stacks.
- Lightning and crit: Whetstone and Hunter’s Moon to crit, Thunder Bell to chain lightning on every crit.
- Summons: Bone Whistle and Grave Lantern to raise allies, Bone Crown so they explode, Vampire Crown so they heal you.
3. When to accept a curse
Cursed relics give a lot: the Glass Heart adds 40% damage, the Pain Engine recharges skills almost instantly. The price is real: taking 35% more damage, paying health for every skill, healing half as much.
Take them when your build already covers the cost (lots of life steal against reduced healing, high armor against the extra damage) or when playing the Penitent, who gains 12% damage per curse. If you change your mind, Brother Cael lifts a curse for gold.
4. Gear and affixes
Rare or better weapons carry affixes that push the build too: “Searing” adds burn chance, “Venomous” poison chance, “Twin” an extra projectile. Hroth the smith can reforge them and raise the weapon’s level; at the Vigil you can also temper it once.
Keep a spare piece in your satchel for the floor boss: an armor ring or a health amulet can be worth more than a little damage in the floor’s longest fight.
