08 Puzzle Vexply Blocks: the complete wiki
Vexply Blocks is an original falling-blocks game: you fit four-square pieces into a 10×20 well and every full row disappears. It’s free in your browser, with a ghost piece, next piece, hold and a speed that rises with every level.

Modes and options
- Ghost piece
- Shows where the piece will land; can be turned off in Options.
- Hold
- Set a piece aside to use later, once per piece.
- Seven-bag
- The seven pieces come shuffled in batches, so there are never long droughts of the one you need.
Rules
- Pieces fall one at a time; you can move, rotate and drop them.
- A full row clears and scores 100, 250, 450 or 700 for 1, 2, 3 or 4 rows at once, times the level.
- Every 10 rows you level up and pieces fall faster.
- Soft drop scores 1 point per row and hard drop 2.
- You lose when a new piece no longer fits in the well.
Strategy
Clearing four rows at once is worth 700 points per level, almost three times as much as four single rows (400). That’s why the highest-scoring strategy is to build an even stack with one column open at the edge and wait for the long piece. The seven-bag guarantees it never takes too long, and hold lets you keep one ready.
Tips
- Keep the surface even: one-wide wells can only be filled by the long piece.
- Leave one column open on a side to clear four rows at once with the long piece.
- Use hold to keep a long piece ready or to get rid of one that doesn’t fit.
- Look at the next piece before placing the current one.
- When speed goes up, hard drop with Space instead of waiting for the fall.
Common mistakes
- Leaving one-cell-wide wells: only the long piece fills them, and meanwhile the well grows.
- Always clearing lines one at a time: four lines at once are worth 700 per level, nearly double four singles.
- Not using hold: it saves the long piece for later or gets rid of one that doesn’t fit.
- Looking only at the current piece: the next one is already shown and changes where this one should go.
